Do ordinary things with extraordinary love. (Mother Theresa)   I sometimes wished that I had the resource to give a huge sum of money to a worthy cause. You know, do something to really make a difference. But I think I know now that generosity is not a one-time event. Generosity must be a lifestyle. Generosity is not giving one large gift one time. Generosity is giving what you have with no thought of return—and doing it all. the time. The Bible has a lot to say about giving, but very little to say about the size of the gift. She’s back!

She’s back!

It might have been after midnight, but we didn’t feel a bit tired any more! We chatted excitedly with M, surprised by the amount of English she had learned since last time we saw her–5 1/2 months ago. (A time period long in the waiting and missing her, but short for language acquisition.) We joked about the first time she had traveled home with us, when she got car sick: “BLECH!!” On the way to the hotel, every single person in our car had a huge smile on his or her face M gave all of us presents when we got to our hotel room. We had a special one for her–a photo book made from the pictures from her last visit. A Cord of Three Strands…

“A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.” Ecclesiastes 4:12 I cannot talk about our summer hosting journey without mentioning the five other amazing families in our area who hosted this summer as well. If a cord of three strands is not quickly broken, then a cord of SIX strands must be nearly indestructible! When we signed up to host last Christmas, we were so blessed to meet the New Horizons for Children coordinator for the Midwest region–Jenelle Cozza. She is amazing and has a huge heart for orphans…AND she attends our church! It was incredible to have the support and knowledge and prayer covering of Jenelle right in our backyard.
